J. Rinehart Gallery is thrilled to announce our second solo exhibition with illustrator, painter, and muralist Kelly Bjork. Their exhibition, Lunacy is a collection of intimate vignettes that render the pronounced moments that mark major transformations, as well as everyday portals of memory, dissociation, and connection.
What are the cycles that shape your life? Are they quiet or loud? How do they intersect and overlap with other lives and timelines? What happens to you when a pattern you’ve come to know and rely on changes, or vanishes altogether? Lunacy reckons with the disorientation of entering perimenopause and the loss of a monthly rhythm that once grounded a body in predictable chaos, in sequences of time, emotion, trust.
Bjork’s exhibition is an exploration of the yearning for spiritual meaning, of desperation for physical and emotional relief. The artist depicts the guides they encounter (and re encounter) along the way: that may be another artist, a substance, a symbol, a celestial body, their own changing body. Bjork shows us the intimate tangles of returning to Self when the self you once knew exists in an inaccessible or lost realm.
